Toowoomba Regional Council manages nine public swimming pools across the region so there is no reason not to make a splash in the town of Toowoomba.

Swimming is a great way to maintain overall fitness levels and is often a gentler alternative to high impact exercise to get back on track following surgery.

2. Walk it out
Walking is one of the simplest, most accessible and affordable ways to keep fit and healthy. Toowoomba offers a wide variety of walking tracks, from picturesque trails and parklands to fascinating historical precincts – there is something designed to suit everyone from the most rugged climber to the slowest of stroll ers.

For those that like to combine culture and fitness, stroll the streets of Toowoomba and take in the architectural ambience of the cultural and legal precinct, including significant buildings such as the Courthouse, Post Office, Empire Theatre, churches and historical hotels. Or discover our City’s early days at Mort Estate, Russell Street and Newtown.

For the more adventurous among us, there is an abundance of local scenic hikes to choose from. Why not tackle an energetic trek at Mount Tabletop, Jubilee Park, Redwood Park or Picnic Point Park to name a few?

3. Get Cycle Savvyc
Toowoomba is the perfect destination for the savvy cycler, with over 70 km’s of pathways, specifically designated mountain bike trails, a comprehensive road network and a purpose-built criterium track to cater for cyclists of all levels and abilities.

There are also a number of organised rides and bike events held in the City every year. Popular routes include the Toowoomba half loop for those building up their confidence, or the full city loop for the more established rider.

The perfect place for honing your cycling skills, Toowoomba’s cycling criterium track offers cyclists a safe recreation and training venue, with six different track configurations ranging from 350 m to 1.76 km.

A free public facility, the criterium track is a fantastic recreation facility for the whole community to use and enjoy, and a great way to build cycling skills, confidence, meet new people and stay in shape.

Be a part of the CHANGE
The CHANGE project is a local initiative designed to incorporate healthy habits into daily life by providing programs to help you be active, eat and live well.

There are a number of fun, social, low-cost, outdoor fitness activities available through the CHANGE project at some of the best parks and recreation places across our city. Try your hand at anything from bootcamps, strollercise and boxing to tai chi, pilates and yoga. Active seniors and mums & bubs activities are also on offer.

As a part of The CHANGE, a free 5km run is held in Toowoomba each week. These are coordinated by enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers and you even have the option of having your run timed each week to help monitor your progress. Parkrun is a perfect way to experience Toowoomba, keep fit and active and socialise, as all participants are welcome to stay afterwards for a coffee and chat.
